Editor review:

This is a compilation of short stories written for a wide audience. They are simple stories but each one illustrates a lesson or proverb which encourages the reader to think about life. I found the stories to be very interesting and some to be quite thought provoking. They are suitable for all readers which allow them to be something a family could read together. I would recommend reading them.

Being a mother of two vibrant

Being a mother of two vibrant young children I was inspired by the stories presented in Stories for parents, children and grandchildren. In particular Yogi Raman’s statement regarding seeing a target to reach it or Abbot Lucas’s advice to his brethren regarding making no demands on others had a profound effect on me. The thoughts of rebuild humanity, rebuild the world subtly expressed touched my heart.

The thought expressed in ‘The Lesson of a butterfly’ triggered a train of expressions in my mind. I got reminded of Saint Kabir’s verses- ‘Dheere Dheere Re Mana, Dheere sub Kuch Hoi! Mali Seenche Sau Gada, Ritu Aaye Phal Hoi!’ –meaning- everything happens based on the time scheduled for it to happen. If a gardener in his eagerness to help a plant bloom, pours a hundred pots of water, it will not bloom. It will bloom only when the season arrives’.

The thoughts expressed in ‘Toad and the Hot water’ made me revisit the memories of a great actor, whose film flopped and the whole state was asking him to quit movies as he had come from another state in India- which is common feature in this wonderful country of ours. The actor told, ‘ I have worked here for 27 years and I have to return to my state for one film that has flopped? I am like a horse, not an elephant. It is not important that you never fall. It is important how soon you get up from that fall. - It was spoken by Rajnikanth a favourite star of the South.

Simple but complex

These short stories are simple but complex enough to contemplate on. As they are simple illustrations, interesting enough, and some are imaginative, this book is suitable for children and grandchildren. As they are complex enough, this book could open your eyes to The Path. Definitely, this book will be a life-enrichment experience to share and discuss with anyone even the youngsters.

In agreement...

I have to agree with Olivia...simple stories but very deep and introspective. Gives a lot to ponder !
