This is a great book. Taking the elements of the Phantom of the Opera, Time Travel and Victorian Romance, all wrapped up in a modern age mystery with villains , dramas, danger and compelling characters; this book has it all.
It is well composed and most certainly entertaining. As a reader, I complained a little about how many times DOES one woman need to be dangling by a rope, or drowning or being chased? But it’s all contained in heart stopping “cliff hanger” style (sorry, couldn't’ help myself) with real cliffs!
I did have some brief frustrations with time-lines as in addition to time travel, some parts of the story are told in retrospect and others told as it happens. Again, none of this took away from the excellent writing, and most importantly, a very compelling story.
However, and I say this with all good humor, this is chick lit at its highest form. Beautifully written romantic scenes, tears galore, requited AND unrequited love, are just not my thing. So, I read the book at intervals in between other readings that had more personal appeal. Still; if you like this kind of book, this should go to the top of your pile.
