From the Next Room
From the Next Room is the sequel to Family Resemblances.
The story takes place seven years later and is once again set in the small town of New Franklin, Illinois. For another time Karen comes to visit her somewhat outrageous Aunt Augusta. Almost nothing is as it was seven years ago, beginning with Karen herself. She comes to visit Augusta with her own messy life on her mind, but what she finds happening to Augusta alters everything.
Just like Family Resemblances, this is slow moving but a great read! The characters are so well written that you cannot help but be drawn into their lives and hope that things turn out well for them. I was delighted to see Allan, a character mentioned in but not part of the first story, being introduced. I was also happy to see George return and couldn’t wait to see how things turn out for them. If you enjoyed Family Resemblances, do not miss this one! I would love to see the story continue!

Good Read But...
It was a good read but not a I can't put it down book, as I did often, I think because the topic of dealing with cancer is so depressing. A little more humor would have been uplifting.
Wonderful Read
So far I have read all 3 of Lowry Pei's books and have loved all of them. I, too, am way past the "young adult" age but found these books to be rich in character development and the interaction between individuals. I am hoping for more...please.
Great book
Great book (even though I'm way past 'young adult' age). It took me back.
